UPDATE - APRIL 22, 2008 - I received the following e-mail. UNBELIEVABLE!!! THIS HAPPENED YESTERDAY 4/21/08 so, two brave souls went to PEC because they heard that there was a sick youngster there that wasnt doing well...PEC was ordered to remove all horses from her property so they were not expecting to find anything...oooops, not only is there a sick youngster, there is a total of EIGHT horses there...hmmmm, so lets see 3 fields of horses and eight at foreclosed PEC...wow, that is some serious hay, vet and farrier bills...oh thats right, you dont have those do you dean? the brave gals got a ticket for trespassing but they called AC and found the eight horses. i am sure dean is going to have a field day with this so i wanted to be sure the true story gets out...the AC officer that was called out there was an AUBURN officer who told us he knows nothing about horses...lot of help there.he was also one of the AC officers that assisted in the evacuation of PEC in feb. we shall see if she gets busted for having the eight there...this is just amazing that people still support this woman...we are done staying quiet...

I don't want to stir up stuff but I used to belong to this groups forum back when it was up and I hope you all don't believe much of that article. That group does what they can to try to get horses out of bad situations. If you guys think they are only helping those horses to make a buck, you should be ashamed. Have any of you seen the number of horses they have saved? And I don't think we should be so quick to judge a whole group of well meaning people just by the way one person with that given group behaves or does things. As for the price thing...I'm pretty sure a lot of it has to do with the feedlot owner setting his prices and even if they bounce it up a bit, the money goes right back to the horses for vet bills, farrier care, hay etc.. Yes, many of the horses are sick, and the group still tries to find homes for them. Would you rather the group leave them there on the lot to just get even sicker and possibly die or would you rather there be an attempt to find the horse a home, get it the vet care it needs and hopefully get it a perm. home? And if you notice when they post their horses on-line they warn the people about the sicknesses that the horses may have. It's not like it's a huge suprise. The group does what they can with what they have just as many of us do while we are trying to save horses. As for calling them "traders," I highly doubt it. If trying to help horses from going to slaughter is "trading" them, then I think the majority of us who have taken in a rescue horse, helped them get on their feet, and then found it a new home are just as guilty and should be equally classified as "traders." Sorry if I offended, but I think it needed to be said. We, as rescuers, need to help each other not put one another down. We are all in this for the same reason, let's not forget what that reason is!

Thank you LJM Just passing on information that was sent to me by a reliable source to the general public that they should be made aware of. The word "rescue" has picked up a bad name over the last few years, and people need to be made aware that not all "rescues" work on the same page when it comes to ethic. It is because of certain "rescues" that support from the general public can hurt rescues trying hard to make a difference. Also not meant to offend. Just want people to be aware that a fancy website does not a rescue make. Ask for paperwork and references. Supporter Beware.

I'm not offended, I just thought I would give my two cents worth. The majority of those people on there are good, well meaning people that want to do the right thing, just like you all on here :)
