HUH? I thought Rock N Acres was closed down because of charges of neglect?
Am I wrong? Pretty sure that I helped them out with placing some dogs quickly because of court orders that they had to go or would be put to sleep.

HHT will take in this horse in and provide it with the care needed, but we will not send contributions or suggest others finacially support this organization that has been shut down in the past because of cruelty and neglect charges brought against them by authorities in Tennessee.
My big question is... where did this horse come from? and was the owners charged with cruelty?

Nina, that is absolutely one of the most uncalled for and rediculous things I've ever seen and it sends me into a "relm of peed off" Ive ever been in. I hope to God that the owner is chased down and prosecuted to the FULLEST!!! :x

The horse is already in a rescue. So no need to send to another rescue. We didn't ask for anyone to take in the horse. He is already in good hands. We were asking if anyone can help.
And far as the shut down part.. We were not shut down by any authorities. Yes there were charges. But if you look and try to find those charges in the courts, they can not be found. The case has been dismissed, dropped, and off records.
We are working on the case regarding the horses owners. If another rescue won't help in suggestions and help an animal in need then why bother being a rescue if you don't want to help others?
Anyone wanting any information about our rescue then contact us, We have all doc to back up all the charges that have been dismissed and off records.
Thank you.

I find it interesting the questions still have not been answered. Maybe I should post them in laymans terms...
1) Was this horse rescued from an owner who lives in Tennessee?
2) Were charges of cruelty brought against the owner of this horse by Tennessee authorities? For that matter..was the horse even removed legally from the owner so a potentual case against the owner will even stand up in court?
3) Is this horse an animal in the care of Rock N Acres, or just a picture from another site they have posted to pull at the heart strings of people to send them money?
4) While I'm on a roll lets go ahead and ask if Rock N Acres has a soliciatation permit with the State of TN to even ask for donation? How about a EIN #?
HHT will do everything in its power to help horses in need in Tennessee. We also are available to help legitamite organizations within the state with whatever backing we have available.
With that said...people have the right to support whom ever they wish...we just feel if someone is going to take it upon themselves to post on our message board, we have the right to share our opinion.
My suggest to Ms. Ford is, if they really wish our help they would have contacted us in person and requested it. Instead they choose to post this poor animal on Craigs List a week ago. I can only hope this animal has already recieved the care is to desperately needed and has not been made to remain in pain while these people are awaiting money needed to provide the care.

Along those same lines,
I would like to see pics of this horse recieving care. I would like to see pics of his feet after his first (of many) visits to a farrier. If you want to come here and ask for support then why not show where you have spent money on this animal?
I agree that this is a neglect case and I hope that the authorities are prosecuting whomever is responsible. I certainly hope that this case was handled so that that can happen.

Other than X-rays, what care has been started already on this horse? How long has it been in the care of this rescue (Who, by the way, why isn't it a 501c3?). How is the horse doing today and where would he be located?
RockNAcres- 07-13-2008
All information regarding the horse is listed on our site http://rnapetrescue.com/animalsneedinghelp.html Updated pics have been posted. As it is stated the horse has been in rescue and in good hands for a week now. The horse has been taken care of. Pics will be posted oh his progress.
CowboysKeeper- 07-13-2008
If that is all the information that you are providing then I just don't think that is enough. I didn't see any updated pics, maybe I missed a link or something? I saw pics of a vet taking x rays but I didn't see any pics of a groomed horse with his feet started on.
I have brought a horse back from a very similar foot situation, it happens in stages.
You also still haven't answered Bossmare's questions.
I recommend that anyone thinking of donating or supporting this "rescue" find out the whole story and make sure that they are operating within the law and that they have a right to even ask for donations.
My personal experience with Rock N Acres left me thinking that they are less than truthful and that their animals are kept in sub standard containment.

Like I've said. More information and pics will be posted soon.

Why weren't up to date pictures already posted? If he's had work done, surely you would have documented his progress and assured people who are concerned about him that he's no long standing camel backed with elf feet.

Did this horse get rescued from a Tennessee owner?
Who is the vet and their contact information?
mom2bbjandag- 07-13-2008
RockNAcres says, "We were asking if anyone can help." I believe the first offer of help by BossMare was that HHT could take in the horse (with conditions).... that IS help. Are you asking for money? Why do you need the money if not to CARE FOR THE HORSE? If you don't have the money to care for the horse -- or whoever actually has the horse in possession -- then why not let a rescue with the funding take care of it? Isn't that a legitimate offer of help?

seems to me, they are pulling at the hearts of people to get funding....if they were so concerned about the horse in question and could not afford it's care to get it back on track.....why won't they hand the horse over to a rescue that can instead of going for cash? Maybe I'm wrong on this, but after reading it all I don't see any ACTUAL answers....only jumping around things .
