My brother-in-law came across 7 abandoned and starving horses in the woods. No animal shelters. What to do?
My brother-in-law came across 7 abandoned horses in a remote area of the woods and he said they were clearly starving. He said you could see their ribs and they looked pretty weak. Obviously someone has dropped them off because they didn't have the money to keep them and assumed that they would be able to survive on their own! Anyways, there is no animal shelter in my county. I have contacted the only 2 horse rescue groups in the local area but have not heard anything back. My brother-in-law would actually love to take them but does not have the money to build a fence nor to buy food, etc. What can be done for these poor horses? I know by the time they got a grant (even if they were approved) it would take so long the horses would be dead. My only other thought was to put a heartbreaking article in the newspaper and maybe someone who could afford them would offer to rescue them. Any ideas what we can do to save these animals?

Ok, this story is true. I'm a 25 year old adult. Not some 10 year old with too much time on their hands. And my brother-in-law was in the woods riding a four wheeler. It is WAY back in the wilderness, no where near where any people live. Also, he is a deputy at the local sheriff's office and the sheriff refuses to do anything.

I have been in contact with the lady and walked her through the steps to take with their local offcials. I let them know if the Ag Agent makes the call we would be more then happy to come and do a round up.
Anyone in? YeeHaa

Cowsboykeeper... I can't do much to help with horses that far away (not sure where Scott Co is, will have to look it up), but if this doesn't take place on a Mon or Thu (I work) maybe I could babysit, since I have my four little ones in tow anyway! Maybe that is a way I can help after all...
ETA:  Thanks miss jet, that is a bit far to go to babysit. Darn, I wish I could help. Oh well, the time will come when I can do more.

YeeHaw is right, I'm ready. Nina, Patty's husband was talking about the guys he got hay from last year. He said they are really strange...horse owners in KY just let their horses run in the mountains and in the woods out there. Since Scott is next to KY, could that be the case?

Let me know..............
